What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a healthcare profession regulated by The Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and requires all Ostepaths to be registered with the Osteopath Board of Australia.  Our Osteopath, Dr Ash Good has a Bachelor of Applied Science and Masters in Osteopathy from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology.

Osteopathic philosophy gives a holistic approach to health and stresses the importance of the musculoskeletal system in a person’s health and well-being. The aim of treatment is to support the body’s self-healing capacity. This is why we believe that Osteopathy and Massage are great wellness partners. Adding to this Ash's desire to treat the cause of the pain rather than simply the symptoms and we have a perfect match with Muscle Medicine and our philosophy.

Osteopaths can diagnose a range of conditions that a massage therapist may identify, but is not qualified to diagnose.  A collaborative treatment plan between your massage therapist and osteopath can provide health and wellbeing synergy.

If you are suffering from any of the following an assessment with our Osteopath can get you on the right path to recovery and rehab;

  • Neck and back pain

  • Arthritis related pain

  • Sciatica

  • Headaches

  • Repetitive strain and overuse injuries

  • Pregnancy-related discomfort

  • Tendonitis

  • Sports injuries

So who should you book with?  If you are experiencing intense or acute pain your first appointment should be with the Osteopath.  If your pain is manageable you can book with either the Osteopath or Remedial Massage Therapist. Our Massage Therapist will either provide you with a treatment plan or refer you for a diagnosis from the Osteopath if they have any concerns after your initial treatment.   Either way, the team at Muscle Medicine will ensure you are looked after.
